As you may know, the mission of the Young Benefactors is to assist the Smithsonian Institution in the advancement of its fundraising goals. However, what you may not know is that there are many ways to achieve this mission. The traditional method that everyone thinks of is to donate cash, but there are many other ways to help out. You can help by:
- Asking your company to make a charitable donation to the YBs on your behalf
- Asking your company to match your donation or membership dues to the Young Benefactors
- Donating or soliciting a company to donate an item for our annual Silent Auction
- Volunteering at a fundraising event
- Or, donating to the YB Culture4Kids Fund at the next YB Happy Hour
While we are a part of the Smithsonian Institution, the Smithsonian Young Benefactors receives no federal support; ticket sales and membership revenue help but do not cover the costs of our cultural and fundraising events. Your support is truly vital to our mission and financial well-being.
All donations are tax-deductible and go to support the Smithsonian Young Benefactors, The Smithsonian Associates - the continuing education and cultural unit of the Smithsonian - and the YB Culture4Kids Fund, which provides support for local school children to attend Smithsonian Summer Camp and Discovery Theater performances.
The Smithsonian Young Benefactors encourages gifts that are unrestricted. However, it is also possible to designate a gift to a specific event or special purpose within our charitable mission.
